Much To Be Thankful For!

As I sit here and plan a menu for our Thanksgiving Dinner, I realize that I have much to be thankful for.

I have a beautiful family and many good friends. My children and my grandchildren are healthy. I have a roof over my head and food to eat everyday. But what if I didn't have any family or friends? What if I thought that not a single person cared if I lived or died?

It hurts my heart to know that there are people that have no one. No one to visit them. No one to tell them "I love you." No one to ask, "Did you eat today, did you have a good day, or "can I help you with anything?"

I am sure that all of us know of at least one neighbor, one person that we met at church that we had noticed that they are always alone. Maybe we have noticed that no one ever visits a neighbor.

I would love to be able to go out to the streets and gather all the lonely people and say, "hey, come with me, we are going to have a Thanksgiving Dinner." This is not possible and it also is not a wise thing to do. It is maybe possible to invite at least one lonely neighbor to our Thanksgiving table to share a meal.

Maybe we can also make a habit out of it. Not just on Thanksgiving but though out the year. We are called to be Christians 365 days of the year, not just on Thanksgiving, not just 52 Sundays a year but all year. Cooking an extra potato is not much effort on our part but the receiver of the extra potato will be blessed with you opening your heart!

We can start this Thanksgiving and give a lonely person something to be thankful for.
God Bless You!
