Jesus; The Original Caregiver/Also a Mechanic?
This is a personal story in my everyday life.
A few weeks ago I noticed a problem with my car. The little bit that I know of cars, and that is a little bit, led me to believe that the problem had something to do with the transmission.
I went to a auto parts store to purchase a bottle of transmission fluid. I asked the man behind the counter if he would be so kind as to put the fluid into my car. He followed me out and checked and said I didn't need any fluid. He said he thought I should go to a transmission shop and have them check it out, that maybe I had a valve problem. I thanked him and went on my way. A transmission shop would be a big expense which I could not afford at the time.
A couple of weeks went by and the problem that I was trying to avoid was getting worse.
It was time for a oil change. The place I took the car to get the oil changed, checked ALL fluid levels and said all fluids were full. This included the transmission fluid. So now there were two people telling me that I didn't need transmission fluid.
At this point, my car would start but would barley go. I could feel the car really strain hard to just get up to 30mph. I was really stressed knowing that any day I would not be able to use my car at all. If I lost my transportation before I was able to get it repaired, I would not be able to pick my grandchildren up from school every day which would mean my daughter would not be able to work.
One night as I was about to fall asleep, I asked Jesus to please help my car.
I forgot the simple pray that I prayed. The next day, As I was checking the fluid level in the radiator, a thought popped into my head to check the transmission fluid. I couldn't believe how low it was. I put the bottle of transmission fluid in, that I had bought from the auto parts store.
Thank you Jesus, my car was fixed without the expense of a transmission shop.
I have to remember to always go to Jesus first when I have a problem. I believe that Jesus is the one that put the thought in my head to check the fluid. I started to not listen to the thought, after all, two people told me I did not need transmission fluid. I could have saved myself a whole lot of stress if I had gone to Jesus to start with. He cares about us and our everyday problems but he will not push us, He waits for us to ask for His help.
Have a Blessed Day!

Yearly Check-Up
I hope that every one's New Year is off to a great start!
The beginning of each year we all seem to make a list of the things that we would like to accomplish though out the year. Maybe we might want to finish the book that we are writing, schedule a carpet cleaning, paint the house or any number of things small or large.
The most important item that should be at the top of our list would be to schedule a doctor appointment for a yearly check-up.
As a family caregiver we always remember to schedule appointments for the love one that we are caring for. It's important to stay on top of your health also. So when you call to make that doctor appointment for your love one, do them and yourself a favor and also make one for you.
Let us keep caregiver burnout at bay...When you make out your daily plan, schedule a little time each day for "me time."
